Most dating and social apps ask you to swipe first and figure out compatibility later, usually a few awkward messages in. udala flips that order. Before you ever message someone, you already know whether your interests line up — because you both built a Desire Map, and the platform matched you on it.
That's the short version of what makes udala different. Here's the longer one.
A real-time social marketplace
We call udala a "real-time social marketplace" because it's really three things working together:
- A matching layer — your Desire Map, which describes what you're into and at what level of detail you're comfortable sharing.
- A presence layer — Available Tonight, which shows who's actually free and open to something right now, not just who has an account.
- A creator layer — Creator Menus, where people who make content or offer services can set up tiers, subscriptions, and private access on their own terms.
You can use all three, or just one. Plenty of members join purely to follow a few creators without ever turning on an availability status.
Getting started
When you sign up, we'll walk you through building your first Desire Map. It takes a few minutes, and you can leave categories blank or mark them private if you're not ready to share yet. Nothing is locked in — you can edit it any time from your profile.
From there, the Home feed adapts to what you've told us: matches who share your interests, and creators whose menus line up with what you're looking for.
