Your Desire Map is the closest thing udala has to a profile "core." It's a list of interests — anything from casual chat to specific kinks — each with its own privacy setting. It exists so that matching can happen on what you're actually into, instead of a vague bio and a handful of photos.
How it's structured
Every entry on your Desire Map has two parts:
- A category — the interest itself (Flirting, Kink Exploration, Group Play, Community, and dozens of others).
- A privacy level — who can see that you've marked it.
Privacy levels are:
- Public — visible on your profile and used for matching across the whole platform.
- Followers — only visible to people in your Circles.
- Private — used for matching, but never shown on your profile at all. Nobody sees it; it just quietly improves who gets recommended to you.
That last option matters. You don't have to choose between accurate matching and keeping something to yourself — you can have both.
Building yours
There's no minimum number of categories, and there's no reward for filling out every field. A Desire Map with three honest, well-chosen entries is more useful than one with twenty vague ones. Think about what you'd actually want a match to already know before you start talking, and start there.
You can revisit and edit your map any time from Profile → Edit → Desire Map. Interests change; your map should too.
How it affects your experience
Your Desire Map quietly shapes a few things:
- Home feed tabs like Flirt and Explore prioritize people whose public interests overlap with yours.
- Discover filters let other members search by desire category directly.
- Recommendations on your home feed factor in Desire Map overlap alongside distance and recent activity.
None of this requires you to make everything public. Private entries still count toward matching — they just stay off your visible profile.
A note on comfort
You're never asked to categorize something you're not ready to name yet. It's fine to leave categories blank, mark things private, or add them gradually as you get more comfortable with the platform. The map is meant to serve you, not the other way around.
